GoodWe ESA all-in-one home battery

ESA combines a hybrid inverter and stackable batteries in one system. We start with your home’s phase, what you use after sunset and which appliances you need in a blackout before choosing the inverter and storage size.

Single-phase or three-phase GoodWe ESA?

ESA configurationManufacturer’s power rangeWhat to decide
Single-phase ESA3–10 kW classChoose the inverter output, then the stack capacity
Three-phase ESA5–30 kW classCheck the loads on each phase and the site connection limit
Battery modules5 or 8 kWh class on the single-phase rangeAsk for the module code, quantity and usable kWh

Inverter kW and battery kWh are different. The compatible module combinations depend on the particular ESA model and its Australian datasheet.

Solar panels and battery in one design

For a new installation, the ESA manages solar and storage together. We assess the roof and panel strings, the supply phase and where the stack can go. For an existing home, a photo of the inverter label helps us work out whether it makes sense to keep the current inverter.

What does “whole-home backup” mean for my house?

The single-phase ESA range has an integrated backup function. A pass-through current rating is not the amount of power the battery can deliver during a blackout. Ask which circuits are included and whether high-draw appliances need to stay off.

Choose storage for evening use, not inverter size

Two homes with a 5 kW inverter may need different batteries. If one exports solar at noon and charges an EV away from home, while the other cooks and charges at home at night, their evening energy use will look very different. Compare both a smaller and a larger stack using your own interval data.

If a quote uses the term “8 kWh module”, ask for the usable energy figure and the number of modules. Then ask for continuous backup power in kW. The two numbers answer different questions.

What will the installed system cost?

A useful GoodWe quote separates the battery and inverter from switchboard work, backup wiring and commissioning. Ask for the total installed price, any eligible federal battery discount and the balance you pay. Future bill savings are a separate estimate, not a deduction from the invoice.

We check the proposed equipment and your property against the Clean Energy Regulator’s battery eligibility rules. We also identify the manufacturer’s warranty for the quoted model and who to contact for warranty support.

GoodWe battery questions

No. ESA is an integrated inverter and battery platform. A standalone Lynx battery is a different design for a supported inverter; do not assume you can reuse Lynx modules in an ESA stack.

Often there is more than one design route. We check panel strings, the existing inverter, export rules and backup expectations before recommending what to keep.

It depends on the unit’s starting demand, phase, continuous load and the ESA configuration. Ask for the actual air conditioner and circuit to be assessed, not just a whole-home label.
