Fox ESS CQ7 home battery storage

The CQ7 is Fox ESS’s modular high-voltage battery. Four modules give 27.84 kWh of nominal storage; six give 41.76 kWh. Which one makes sense depends on how much you import at night, how much you export by day and which inverter is paired with the stack.

What do CQ7-M and CQ7-S mean?

In the referenced range, one CQ7-M includes the battery controller. CQ7-S modules add storage. We list the master, expansion modules and inverter model separately on a proposal so you can tell exactly what is included.

Will a CQ7 fit an existing Fox ESS system?

A matching brand is not enough. We check the existing inverter, the CQ7 variant and the manufacturer’s compatibility list. If you have an older EQ battery, send a photo of the label rather than ordering another module by capacity alone.

What does 27.84 kWh mean at dinner time?

Four CQ7 modules hold 27.84 kWh nominal. If the oven, induction hob and EV charger run together, the limiting factor may still be the inverter or the backed-up phase. Compare your half-hourly evening peak as well as the total energy you buy overnight.

For a home with more than one phase, have the proposal name the circuits that will keep working in an outage. If you are keeping your solar inverter, also ask whether your panels can recharge the battery while the grid is down.

What will the installed system cost?

A useful Fox ESS quote separates the battery and inverter from switchboard work, backup wiring and commissioning. Ask for the total installed price, any eligible federal battery discount and the balance you pay. Future bill savings are a separate estimate, not a deduction from the invoice.

We check the proposed equipment and your property against the Clean Energy Regulator’s battery eligibility rules. We also identify the manufacturer’s warranty for the quoted model and who to contact for warranty support.

Fox ESS battery questions

Four 6.96 kWh modules give 27.84 kWh nominal. Your operating reserve and the inverter affect how much is available to the home.

Six modules add 13.92 kWh over four. Compare that extra capacity with the solar you export on a typical day and the electricity you buy overnight, including winter.

No. The paired inverter, switchboard design and backup circuits determine what will run during an outage.
